I met some Parrots today

It was a beautiful sunny day in Hobart and I did a short walk to see how the local Parrot population was doing. Gum trees are in blossom and there was a lot of activity in the branches. Musk Lorikeets, Eastern and Green Rosellas and Noisy Miners all chirping and squeaking at the same time.

Real Wild Rainbow Lorikeets

I just saw on someone's blog a photo of a Rainbow Lorikeet taken in an aviary in Hong Kong. The bird looked a bit too skinny and some of the colors were completely 'wrong'. What have they done to the poor Lorikeets? Was it a hybrid or just some strange mutation that occurred in captivity? That made me post some old photos of real wild healthy Rainbow creatures, so that everyone can see how they look in Australia.

A funny pic for 'Good night'

What do you think is going on here? Please, post your interpretation. I'm curious to know.

Green is the color of the season

There will be more Musk Lorikeet photos in the next couple of days. Green is fashionable in spring and so are those cool little birds.

How many?

Can you tell how many Rainbow Lorikeets are there in this shot? BTW Rainbow Lorikeets are not supposed to live in Tasmania either.

First post - tribute to old FinePix S5500

Well... as I keep putting off and off the plans to fully redesign and rebuild my Portraits of Australian Animals site, I finally decided that it would be much easier and faster to start up a blog and post the new photos here frequently. It might be faster later, but it took me sooo much time to tweak the template layout and make it more suitable for my needs. Hope that this is done once and forever :)

I have a new camera now, but I would like to start with a picture taken with my old Fuji FinePix S5500. I'll keep posting old shots every now and then. Old photos bring memories and Rainbow Lorikeets back!
