lights, camera, ACTION

Two decently good shots (no.1 and no.3) in a single lunch break is quite a good score! This made me post some action in-flight photos that looked thematically linked.

Pacific and Kelp

Pacific Gull is a bit bigger, with more massive bill. Both upper and lower mandibles have orange-red tips. In Kelp only the lower mandible tip is red.

He has a pretty long tongue, doesn't he?

TV-documentary-like

One more of these photos that look to me as frames from a David Attenborough doco.

All these guys and more

What excites me so much about living in Australia is that on a single walk home you can spot all these birds below plus many others. You can work in the city and still the wild nature is so close. All you need to do is keeping your eyes and heart open.

The young Kelp Gull again

The juvenile Kelp guy was playing with a shell fish today. It's so nice to watch him do stupid things, test his ability to fly and swim and just enjoy his 'teenage' years.

Wind is so much fun!

It's all about captured moments, right? About things that we would miss with naked eyes. But then if the quality is not perfect it is very disappointing. Still, I think that this pic deserves to be published as it shows a very unusual action pose. Good reference for animators too.

Young Kelp Gull

Do you remember how I was complaining that I don't have a single decent Kelp Gull photo. Well... I was kind of lucky yesterday. It was very windy and this juvenile was definitely enjoying to play in the wind, splash in the water and try different tricks. Even though they are back lit and the actor was far away I'm very glad to have my first Juvenile Kelp Gull pictures.

Swan Lake

This is funny, I think! A huge young Kelp Gull and an ordinary Silver Gull synchronously 'dancing' in the water. The size difference is quite obvious as well.
